To be 100% honest, I had no idea what these goals were when I sat down to write this post. My life looked insanely different 3 months ago, but I was smart and set ‘themes’ as opposed to hard pressed goals for 2017 which should make revisiting them a little easier. Shall we see how Q1 of 2017 treated me?
Get better at ‘homeowning/making.’
This will always be a work in progress but I think I’ve made some great strides in this area. As a household we’re pretty good at meal planning for the week, budgeting for groceries, keeping up on laundry, and making sure the kitchen is clean before bed. Cleaning is not my forte but during my bout of unemployment I found a cleaning YouTube channel (yes, they exist) that gave me a little inspiration in this area –> Clean My Space if you’re interested.
I’m probably most excited about our outdoors space. The snow is mostly gone, the tulips are coming up, and I’ve planned out my garden on paper and purchased most of the seeds! In the next few weeks we’ll be getting everything set up outside – I hope to share more about this experience in upcoming posts!
Spend more time with family and friends.
We’ve been spending so much time hanging out with friends and family! Our brunch group has totally morphed since we started it and apparently we also started a softball team… and a supper club. Is there anything we can’t do!? Having time to spend with the people you love is magical & I’m happy to be doing it more.
Getting back into a fitness routine.
Long story short there is no routine happening over here. I did sign up for a gym membership at work (+10 points and a gold star) but since finding out I won’t be in town for the Manitoba Marathon this year (aka I won’t be running it) I’ve since stopped running all together. I’m going with the flow and I think that’s ok. It takes some time to get back into things and once things settle down with my job(s) maybe my flow will take me in another direction.
You guys! You’ll be so proud of my travel budgeting skills. We have some pretty awesome trips in the works for this year! Nothing HUGE is planned (saving it for 2018?), but I’m excited to visit some local places as well as some not-so local ones. I won’t spill the beans just yet, but you can look forward to some more travel pics on Instagram and maybe even a few blog posts.
Find work I love
I’m so happy to say that I’ve found work! After finishing my degree I spent about a month searching for a full time position and I was very fortunate to find one quickly! I really like the area I’m working in – Clinical Research, and my fellow team members are awesome. I’m still quite new, so I don’t think I can drop the L-bomb just yet, but I feel like I’m contributing to something greater than myself and that’s an amazing feeling.
