There’s nothing better than locally grown and produced food, I swear it tastes better. This is one of the reasons why farmers markets are my most favourite things in the world. Not only do you get to meet the people who are making/growing your food, but you also get the satisfaction of knowing it was grown/produced near where you live. It’s incredibly empowering to buy your food directly from the producer rather than buying it at the huge grocery store out in the suburbs. I think it’s also a pride thing for me, we’re no California, but damn can we grow great tasting produce here in Manitoba.
The market has a host of vendors that sell everything from honey to veggies, to wool products and the vibe around the whole market is energizing. So many people are so excited for local food and it warms my heart. I can’t wait to get my hands on some locally grown greens, corn, and potatoes!
The best place ever, aka St. Norbert’s Farmers’ Market opens tomorrow and clearly I couldn’t be more excited.
